Pecking House (Manhattan)
Press:
Pecking House, a culinary sensation born during the COVID-19 pandemic has captivated New York City with its innovative fusion of Nashville hot chicken and Sichuan flavors. Chef Eric Huang, formerly a sous chef at Eleven Madison Park, launched this venture in 2020, transforming his family's shuttered Chinese restaurant in Queens into a takeout and delivery hotspot. The unique chili fried chicken quickly garnered a waitlist of nearly 10,000 eager patrons.
In September 2022, Pecking House established its first permanent location at 244 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood.
The restaurant's design thoughtfully blends elements of a Southern fried chicken joint with the ambiance of a traditional Chinese takeout shop, reflecting its culinary roots. The interior features a cheery chicken head logo and suave Art Deco typeface, creating a welcoming and stylish atmosphere.
The menu showcases Pecking House's signature chili fried chicken, buttermilk-brined, and finished with Sichuan peppercorns, Tianjin chilis, and five-spice. Accompanying dishes include seasonal sides, chicken sandwiches, and wings, all crafted with the same attention to flavor and quality.
The restaurant's success has led to the opening of a second, more intimate location in Manhattan's Chinatown, offering a cozy dining experience that complements its renowned cuisine.
Pecking House's journey from a pandemic pop-up to a beloved dining destination exemplifies resilience and innovation in the culinary world. Its thoughtfully designed spaces and distinctive menu continue to attract and delight food enthusiasts across New York City.
