"Oakland Rehab"
“Rudsdale” is one of those diamonds in the rough. Abandoned halfway through construction in 2008 at the onset of the “National Housing Crisis” and later condemned by the City of Oakland, the derelict site sat, for almost ten years, slowly falling apart and scaring away any investors years before WAKE got involved.
Originally envisioned, approved, and constructed as five group homes with an auxiliary space, WAKE worked with its collaborators, the client, and the City of Oakland to breathe new life into the project as a 15-unit affordable housing project.
After a year-and-a-half of work, review, and planning, Rudsdale now looks forward to being completed and is finally under construction once again.
