"The Schoolhouse"
Formerly a schoolhouse on the “quietside” of Mount Desert Island, WAKE was retained to manage and design the renovation in the heart of Maine’s Acadia National Park. Built-in 1840, according to public records, the “Schoolhouse” was originally a public school before becoming a single-family residence sometime in the late 50s.
Wanting to keep the buildings original footprint, ridgeline, and general size new dormers were introduced on the second floor to create additional living space. The newly renovated home is now a 4-bed, 3-bath, single-family dwelling that has a two-story central living and dining area that opens up to the south-facing deck.
